Note that businesses or individuals providing services not through an e-commerce platform but liable to collect TCS with a turnover of less than Rs 20 lakh are exempt from applying for GST registration.
Also, e-commerce operators liable under Section 52 of the CGST Act cannot apply for the composition scheme.

If the e-commerce business has been permanently closed or discontinued, the owner of the business can apply for cancellation of their GST registrations. However, such businesses must ensure that all of their pending tax liabilities have been cleared and returns are filed.
GST registration can also be cancelled when it is going through a merger, demerger, acquisition, or complete transfer of ownership. Here, the new owner will be required to apply for a new GST registration to operate legally and smoothly in the country.

Note that in these situations, authorities first issue a show-cause notice to the business so that they can present their case first before the authorities end up making any decisions.
