The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has improved its services to make account and pension management easier. Key changes include a simpler joint declaration system, the launch of the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS), and clarifications on higher wage pensions. Members can also update profiles easily and transfer PF accounts without hassle.
By a circular issued on January 16, 2025, EPFO has revised its Joint Declaration SOP to replace Version 3.0 with a simplified procedure. This revision contains:
Categorisation of members based on UANs to which Aadhaar is linked.
Sending Aadhaar verified UANs requested for online post 01/10/2017.
Physical requests for cases without Aadhaar validation or deceased members.
This simplification seeks to enhance the speed at which claims are settled and reduce the documentation burden.
CPPS was launched by EPFO with effect from January 1, 2025, with the intent of streamlining the payment pensions System. Here are the features:
Payment of pension through any bank or branch via NPCI.
Elimination of bank jurisdiction issues for Pension Payment Orders (PPOs).
Aadhaar-seeded accounts to reduce errors in pension claims.
All pension claims will be handled at the RNST O and B Regional Offices to allow for quicker and more reliable cash transactions.
After discussions with the Ministry of Labour & Employment, EPFO issued PoHW guidance for dealing with the processing of Pension on Higher Wages (PoHW) cases. The changes ensure:
Equity in pension computation for all pensioners.
Adherence to trust rules in exempted establishments.
Distinct processes for dues and pension arrears.
These operational guidelines ensure a balance between field activities and legal compliance which fosters uniformity and openness.

According to the new instructions released by EPFO, transferring PF accounts is straightforward. There is no longer a need for requests to be routed via the previous or current employers for online transfers, in the following situations:
When there are transfers between the Member IDs which are linked to the same UAN post-October 1, 2017.
When there are transfers between different UANs which are linked with the same Aadhaar.
This update streamlines the transfer process and decreases the member's waiting time for the service.
The EPFO’s reforms for 2025 emphasised the members’ ease, visibility and efficiency. These updates make managing EPF accounts much easier. Members can handle pensions, profile updates, and PF transfers online. There is no need to visit the office.
