The Academic Bank of Credits acts as a repository of the higher educational credits earned by a student from UGC-recognized universities and facilitates the transfer of credits from one institution to another. It is a 12-digit unique identifier to which all the eligible credits will be mapped for convenience.
Several features of the ABC ID Card outline the goals of the Academic Bank of Credits. Some of the key features are:
Digital Repository: It helps store and display academic credits earned by students and therefore provides a one-stop solution for educational institutes and students
Flexibility: Students who have to leave and enter a course without having finished it can still have their accumulated credits counted and mapped for future entry back into the course.
Transfer Facilitation: It helps students transfer credits from one UGC-recognized university to another thereby providing students the freedom to change their majors or even colleges.
Government-Issued Credits: Academic bank credit also stores credits from online and distance courses offered by the government.
The Academic Bank of Credits initiative has numerous ABC benefits that make the lives of students and educational institutes easier. Some of the major benefits are:
Academic Ledger: ABC ID keeps a close eye on every aspect of students' academic progress. After the students receive their ABC IDs, their names are given a permanent identity. To provide seamless and trouble-free academic tracking for each student throughout their educational path.
Streamlining Administrative Process: Conventional paper-based documents could be destroyed or misplaced, which would be quite inconvenient. However, students' academic records can also be digitally stored using ABC ID, which lessens the administrative load.
Academic Diagnostics: Through an ABC ID, these credit records assist teachers in analyzing a student's areas of strength and weakness in a particular topic.
Empowerment: Academic Bank Credit ID enables students to take charge of their educational journey and provides a sense of ownership to them to make decisions without the threat of lost educational time.

Interested students first need to ensure whether they fit into the eligibility criteria or not to generate their ABC IDs. The eligibility criteria are:
Students must be enrolled in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) only to avail ABC Scheme.
The institute must be accredited to or recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the academic credits to be awarded.
Students need to submit certain supporting documents to generate their respective ABC IDs. The list of those documents is as follows:
Identity Proof in the form of an Aadhaar Card, Driving License, or any equivalent government-issued identification
Enrollment details are provided by the university of higher education in which the student is admitted.
Any previous academic record relevant to the course and or credit accumulation.
Individuals can create their respective ABC IDs through numerous ways such as using the official portal of the Academic Bank of Credits, with or without the help of DigiLocker, or using a QR code.
Interested and eligible individuals can create their respective ABC IDs by following the steps mentioned below in detail:
Step 1: Go to the page of the Academic Bank of Credits by opening the ABC Portal.
Step 2: After completing the registration form, provide your personal and academic details.
Step 3: Turn in your documents, and submit academic transcripts and other identification documents that are required.
Step 4: After confirmation of the cardholder’s information, an individual ABC ID will be generated.
Individuals can create their ABC IDs without DigiLocker by following the steps mentioned below in detail:
Step 1: Find the official website of the Academic Bank of Credits. Step 2: Select “Student” under the “My Account” icon which can be accessed at the right section of the screen when clicked. Step 3: Go down the menu and click on the “Sign Up” button.
Step 4: You can link your Aadhaar-registered cellphone number to sign up for this account.
Step 5: To sign up Log in to your ePramaan account using Meri Pehchaan single sign-on service.
Step 6: After the “Meri Pehchaan” dashboard appears a pop-up window will appear where you will be asked to select the type of identification, the year of entrance, and the university you have been or are studying in.
Step 7: Once you have entered your identity type please click the button labeled “Submit”.
The steps to create your ABC ID by scanning a QR code are mentione below in detail for one’s better understanding:
Step 1: To access the Academic Bank of Credits, please, visit the official website. Step 2: On the main screen, you can scan the QR code. Step 3: To access the DigiLocker portal, download the DigiLocker app on your mobile phone and sign in to the application.
Step 4: Type in your name, gender, and date of birth on a form that will appear.
Step 5: Please provide your Identity Value here after you have made your choice of your Identity Type, Year of Admission, and your Institution.
Step 6: In the menu bar, choose “Get Document”. You will receive your ABC ID.
Step 7: Your ABC ID is to be found under the section “My Issued Documents” as soon as the ABC ID is created correctly.
Individuals can log in to your accounts by following the steps mentioned below in detail for one’s better understanding:
Step 1: Visit the official ABC portal. Step 2: Enter your 12-digit ABC ID and password.
Step 3: Click on "Login" to access your account and view your credit details.
After signing up for an ABC ID card, follow these steps to download your card from the DigiLocker account. The steps are mentioned below in detail:
Step 1: To open your account, you have to visit the official webpage of DigiLocker and then enter your login details. Step 2: Choose the tab that will say “Issued Documents.”
Step 3: Select “Academic Bank of Credit ID”.
Step 4: Wait till your ID is fetched. Go down to the menu and click “Download”.
Step 5: Your ABC ID will be downloaded as a PDF file.
In the Academic Bank of Credits system, the application has an ID number which acts as a unique identifier. It provides credit for all the student’s academic pursuits and also helps them in dealing with credit management with other learning institutions.
