The government of Odisha has made plans to implement the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) beginning April 1, 2025. The scheme will be in parallel with the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana which will lead to millions of beneficiaries receiving better healthcare services.
These decisions stem from the MoU signed on January 13, 2025 with the National Health Authority to bring the Ayushman Bharat scheme to Odisha’s. The scheme will be operationalised in 1,438 primary health centers and citizens will be educated on the scheme via a campaign.

Odisha's citizens will have greater access to healthcare owing to the collaborative implementation of AB-PMJAY and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.
More than 35.2 million people will be availed of the provision of free medical treatment for various procedures.
Each eligible male will receive up to ₹5 lakh for medical expenses.
Eligible female beneficiaries would be covered by the scheme up to ₹10 lakh.
Families having old-aged members above seventy years (70+) would be covered for medical expenses up to ₹15 lakh.
Senior citizens (70+ years) are entitled to coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana.
6 lakh people out of 23.12 lakh senior citizens entitled to the benefit are receiving assistance under the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.
Beneficiaries can obtain medical services from more than 29,000 hospitals nationwide, including:
Government Hospitals
Registered Private Hospitals
Specialty treatment centres
This program eliminates cost constraints for families who want to obtain great healthcare services.
