This is why the government of India is creating many government subsidy schemes to help farmers in every way possible. The Plantation Crop Development Scheme in India was started by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya. This government scheme was introduced to increase the area and production of plantation crops like Arecanut, Cashewnut, Coconut, and Pineapple. Under this state government scheme, farmers will receive a 50% subsidy on planting materials and support for building soakage tanks.

Financial assistance is provided at a 50% subsidy for purchasing planting materials and polypipes.
Financial assistance is also given at a 50% subsidy for constructing soakage tanks.
The assistance is provided for one year.

Interested applicants have to meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the Plantation Crop Development Scheme in India.
The applicant must be a resident of Meghalaya.
The applicant must be a genuine farmer involved in agriculture.
The farmer should own or lease at least 0.2 hectares of land or more.
Benefits of the govt scheme are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Farmers who meet the eligibility criteria can follow these steps to apply for the state government scheme. The application process for Plantation Crop Development Scheme is very easy and simple.
Step 1: The eligible farmer can apply by writing an application on a white paper.
Step 2: Attach copies of all required documents with the application form.
Step 3: Submit the completed and signed application along with the documents at the nearest office of the Horticulture Development Officer in your CD Block or Horticulture Circle.

The following documents have to be submitted along with the application form. Make sure to keep everything ready to avoid any last-minute problems and hassle-free application process.
Passport-size photograph.
Bank passbook/account details.
Documents proof of possessing own or leased land.
Any other document as required.
