Under the Delhi Tirth Yatra Scheme, senior citizens can visit their desired pilgrimage sites without any major expenses as expenses such as travel, food, and accommodation are paid by the government of Delhi.

The govt scheme has allowed at least 38,000 people to visit their desired places since its launch. The senior citizens can also travel with an attendant but it is optional.

The Delhi government works in collaboration with the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to manage the scheduled tours. The government scheme also promotes inclusivity as it arranges visits to pilgrimage sites of all the major religions in India such as Hinduism, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians.

What Are The Eligibility Criteria For The Delhi Tirth Yatra Scheme?

The eligibility criteria for availing of the scheme are:

• The applicant must be a resident of Delhi or its territorial jurisdiction.

• Applicants must be 60 years old.

• The applicants shouldn’t be employed in any government jobs.

• The minimum age of the attendant should be at least 21 years.

Application Process For Availing Of The Delhi Tirth Yatra Scheme

The application process for applying for the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana is laid down:

1. Visit the official website of the Delhi government.

2. On the homepage, there is a ‘Citizen’s Corner’ under which the ‘New User’ option is present.

3. This would lead you to the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana’s online registration form.

4. Fill out the registration form and attach the relevant documents such as a copy of a certificate from any MLA or a minister of Delhi, self-declarations, medical certificates, voter ID cards, and others, if requested.

5. After successfully registering, please wait while the submitted applications are verified and the selected applicants are informed through a message or email.
