The state government of Assam launched the Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme (MMNM) in the year 2024. It is a financial assistance scheme specially designed for female students residing in the state. The word ‘Nijut Moina’ literally translates to ‘one million girls’, which represents the scheme’s mission to provide support to at least 70 million meritorious female students so that they can build their careers in their chosen fields.

Increase in admissions: The Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme aims to increase the admissions of girls in educational institutions.
Promote higher education: The state govt scheme aims to encourage female students to pursue higher studies after passing the 12th standard and build their professional careers.
Child marriages: MMNM aims to reduce and eventually eliminate the instances of child marriages, as it isn’t merely illegal but cruel.
