To encourage people who possess the knack of being an entrepreneur with out-of-the-box ideas, the government of India launched the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) in 2016. The government programme is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and aims to create a supporting environment for skilled entrepreneurs to transform their abstract ideas into reality.

Recently, the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) introduced its fourth cohort of Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs) with the partnership of Capgemini India, a firm leading in technology and consulting. It is a moment of honour and pride as the mission has been successfully working for 8 years now.

Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs)

The Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs) is a one-year program of rigorous training under excellent mentorship to deserving individuals with innovative ideas and a path to bring those ideas into reality, irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds.

15 individuals have been selected for the Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs) program and are being hosted at the Atal Community Innovation Centre where they are imparted with all the components of the training. CIFs are encouraged to brainstorm unique and sustainable ideas and plans to resolve real-life issues faced by the people of India.

Features Of The Fourth Cohort

There are some key features of the fourth cohort of Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs). The main features are:

Diversity: Individuals selected as Community Innovator Fellows are from various backgrounds which represents the diversity in demographics. It also sends us a strong message that backgrounds don’t matter, skills and hard work do.
Creative peak: The training focuses on polishing the creative thinking of CIFs and encourages them to not only think creatively and practically but also teach them to make an implementation plan.
Collaboration: The CIF program also encourages peer-to-peer learning and partnership to create a competitive but supportive environment.

Capgemini India is a leading firm in technology and consulting which is supporting the fourth cohort of the Community Innovator Fellows (CIFs) by awarding them with grants of Rs. 1 lakh each. The SRF Foundation is helping AIM & Capgemini India for proper and smooth execution.

Dhanashree Page, the head of the Operations at Capgemini India expressed that “the CIFs represent the hope and creativity of India's grassroots innovators and by empowering these individuals, we are enabling real, scalable solutions that can transform communities and drive sustainable change”.
