In a bid to improve the benefits retirees receive after serving in the government, the central government has put into effect the Unified Pension Scheme 2025 (UPS), which now replaces the National Pension System (NPS), for it is meant specifically for government employees. The key objective of this scheme is to offer a sustained pension income, mitigate post-retirement financial risks, and enhance self-management of resources.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has constructed a simple move process that enables more than 23 lakh government employees to shift from NPS to UPS easily and without complications.
