  • This is because the land in question has been jointly owned or there were disputes within a family.

State Resistance:

  • Some states such as Jharkhand are against the implementation because of the problems it presents for their areas.

  • Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Odisha have opted out of NREGS claiming that the new land records have been prepared.

Parliamentary Recommendations:

  • The standing committee on Panchayati Raj has already demanded legal solutions to these problems.
