Among the innumerable professions is the profession of journalism. Journalists deliver news from all over the world and allow people to form their own opinions based on the available information. It is also one of the most complex professions as boundless travelling is needed to be able to collect data on various incidents which also makes them vulnerable to many health concerns like viruses and illnesses.

To ensure that the health of journalists remains safe and protected, the state government of Nagaland recently launched a Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), especially for journalists. It is one of the most unique state government schemes as no other state govt has worked on something like this.

What Is The Health Insurance Scheme For Journalists?

On an awareness camp organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations on 17th December, the state government of Nagaland introduced the initiation of a Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) especially for journalists under the management of the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Details Of The CMHIS

There are some major details of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) for journalists. All of its major details are mentioned below in detail for one’s better understanding.

Coverage

The govt scheme would provide health insurance coverage to not only the registered journalists but their family members as well.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to be able to successfully apply for CMHIS are mentioned below in detail for one’s better understanding:

  • Applicants should be Indians.
  • Applicant must be a resident of the state of Nagaland.
  • Journalists with at least 3 years of experience under the Working Journalists’ Act of 1955 can apply for the scheme.

Helpline Numbers

The health insurance scheme will soon release toll-free helpline numbers that people can dial and get all their queries resolved.

CMHIS Cards

Registered journalists would be able to avail medical care through a registration card that they can use in registered hospitals with the state govt health insurance scheme.

Aaadhar Linking

The eligible applicants would be mandated to link their Aadhaar numbers to the authentication scheme.
