Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the national convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a new welfare scheme Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana under which women aged 18 or above will be given a direct benefit of ₹1,000 every month. Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana

According to this govt scheme, any woman who has completed 18 years and is a resident of Delhi shall be provided with ₹1,000 every month. The programme works towards:

Empowerment: An initiative aimed to improve women-led households' economic and social development.

Women Participation: This involves the correct usage of tools that ladies can use to overcome various financial requirements.

The stipend will be disbursed monthly and is expected to benefit lakhs of women across the national capital.

Political Context

While interacting with the people of Model Town and Timarpur, he assured the public of his party’s commitment to implementing welfare schemes. He highlighted challenges in rolling out initiatives like the Mahila Samman Yojana, emphasising the importance of ensuring such schemes benefit the intended recipients effectively.

Public Welfare Focus: Mr Kejriwal explained once more the responsibility of his administration of the expenditure of public resources on the vital areas of the population, education, medical care and provision of basic services, including free provision of water and electricity to the people

Criticism of opposition: Allegations regarding the finances of the organisation are responded to by him in this manner, he says “I am spending money on the people not taking it from them.”

AAP’s Dedication to Public Services

Kejriwal stressed yet again AAP’s larger goal of guaranteeing the provision of public services and the availability of welfare programs to the citizens. He countered the L-G’s failure to govern properly while he was incarcerated, saying, ‘The L-G was in charge of the administration for six months during my incarceration. Why did he not administer such governance that the people would prefer him over me?”

Opposition’s Reaction

The critique of the BJP has been directed towards the stipend scheme and some other welfare schemes as they describe them to be an extra unnecessary expense. They argue such steps are designed with an electoral view and are not feasible in the future. However, the policymakers of the Delhi AAP government defend their policies claiming that the policies are meant for the people of Delhi only.

Conclusion

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana aims to empower women by giving them financial assistance. Mr. Kejriwal has stated that women including other citizens will benefit from such a scheme even if there are objections towards it. This effort is likely to enhance the AAP’s public image and resolve the lower-level financial issues.
