The Amma Two Wheeler Scheme is an initiative started by the government for the working women of Tamil Nadu. There are multiple benefits of the Amma Two Wheeler Scheme for the economically backward women of Tamil Nadu. The benefits of the government scheme are as follows:
The scheme promises to provide 50% of the vehicle's cost debited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
The government scheme is open to women from all over Tamil Nadu, both in urban and rural areas.
The scheme also has provisions to improve accessibility of this program for PwDs by retrofitting vehicles so that they can be operated despite certain disabilities.
Women can avail bank loans for the remainder of the cost of the vehicle.
Although the Amma Two Wheeler Scheme is for any woman looking for a mode of transport to a potential job or enterprise, there are certain stipulations to who can avail of this government scheme:
The candidate must reside in Tamil Nadu and be a native of the state.
The candidate must be between the ages of 18 and 40.
At the time of application, the candidate must be a licensed driver and have a current Learner Licence Registration (LLR) or two-wheeler.
The beneficiary's yearly income shouldn't be more than ₹2,50,000. The benefit will only be available to women, and only one woman per household will be eligible.
The candidate ought to have taken the eighth-grade exam and received a passing or failing grade.
Working women who live in rural areas, hilly areas, remote areas, in homes headed by women, abandoned women, destitute widows, women with disabilities, unmarried women over 35, members of Scheduled Castes or Tribes, and transgender people would be given preference.
The application for the government scheme differs whether you are applying from an urban or rural place. The form can be collected from the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women:
Step 1: The application can be collected from the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women office or downloaded online.
Step 2: Place the passport-size photo in the appropriate spot.
Step 3: Enter the name of your village panchayat, block, district, etc.
Step 4: Provide your information, including your name, residence, birthdate, spouse's name, level of education, and other pertinent details.
Step 5: Give information about the scooter you wish to purchase, including its cost. Mention whether you are taking out a loan or paying cash for the two-wheeler. Include the quote for your vehicle’s invoice, the bank's information if you're taking out a loan, etc.
Step 5: The documents that are attached to the application form must also be mentioned.
Step 6: Sign the application form and include the date and location.
Step 7: The application forms should be completed and sent to the appropriate Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) or Block offices.
Step 1: The application can be collected from the Tamil Nadu Corporation for the Development of Women office or downloaded online.
Step 2: Place a passport-size photo in the appropriate spot.
Step 3: Provide information about the town panchayat, district, ward, corporation, municipality, etc.
Step 4: Enter your name, address, date of birth, father or husband's name, educational background, and any other information that is required.
Step 5: Include your driver's licence or learner's licence information, bike invoice quote, bank account information (if you're applying for a loan), etc.
Step 6: Check the box for any supporting documentation.
Step 7: Sign the application, enter the date and location and submit it to the appropriate block office.
You must submit the claim form as soon as you have the Amma two-wheeler scheme registration certificate. The authority will release the subsidy amount straight into your bank account or loan account. The steps to complete the claim form are as follows:
Step 1: You can download the subsidy claim form.
Step 2: Enter your application number and any other information requested on the form.
Step 3: Mention how you bought the scooter, including if you financed it or did it yourself.
Step 4: Mention all of the account information, including the bank branch, IFSC code, account number, account type, and account holder name.
Step 5: Sign the claim form and enter the date.
The application process requires the submission of certain required documents for the application to be processed and catalogued for the right applicant. The required documents are
Driving licence/LLR (Learner Licence Registration), A valid driver’s license is of utmost importance whilst applying for this scheme. Considerations between Driving License and Learner License based on driving level passed and age.
Community certificate (in case of SC/ST)
Proof of education (8th pass/fail)
Proof of employment
Salary stub from an organisation or place of employment / self-declaration of self-employment and associated proof.
Bank passbook and be sure to know your IFSC code.
ID card from the organisation, if available.
Proof for the claim under the priority category.
Invoice/Quotation for the scooter to be purchased.

The government has made special reservations for women from scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and people with disabilities under the Amma two-wheeler scheme.
21% of the total is set aside for women from scheduled castes.
One percent is set aside for women from scheduled tribes.
4% of the funds are set aside for women with disabilities.
Any two-wheeler vehicle that meets the following requirements can be purchased, whether it is auto-geared or gearless:
The vehicle should have a maximum engine capacity of 125 cc.
The vehicle should be considered valid and should be able to get registered under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
The two-wheeler needs to be produced by January 1, 2018, at the latest.
The two-wheeler needs to adhere to the most recent emission regulations.
Note: The information you supply on the vehicle will be compiled by the Project Director of the district's Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM). The state's transportation department will be informed of this data. This is done to prevent ownership changes brought on by car sales from occurring for three years without the Project Director of TMSRLM's prior consent.
