Many people have experienced being frauded due to some fraudulent and misleading information being sent to them through text, call, e-mail or WhatsApp. Scammers use unique methods such as asking for OTP, asking to click on scam links, etc. These have caused serious losses to many people and have increased the amount of banking fraud, financial fraud, bank scams, credit card scam, SIM card scam and many more.

What Is The Personal Information Required To File A Complaint/Report A Crime?

To report or register a crime, you need to submit certain personal information. The list is given below:

• A PC or phone with an internet connection

• Proof of financial fraud

• Working phone number with SMS service to receive OTP

• Identity proof

• Date and time of the incident with 200 words explaining the incident

The following ID proofs are acceptable to register a complaint:

• Voter ID

• Driving Licence

• Passport

• PAN card

• Aadhaar card

Are Banking Details Required To Register A Complaint?

To report financial fraud, you need to provide some of your financial details to the authorities. You may be asked for these:

• Name of the Bank/ Wallet/Merchant

• 12-digit Transaction ID/UTR No.

• Date of transaction

• Fraud amount

Is There Any Additional Information Required To Report A Crime Or Register A Complaint?

Yes, some additional information is also required to file a complaint. You will be asked for the following information:

• Suspected website URLs/ Social Media handles (wherever applicable)

• Suspect Details (if available)

• Mobile No

• Email ID

• Bank Account No

• Address

• Any other document through which the suspect can be identified.

What Is The Process To Report A Crime Or Register A Complaint?

The process to register a complaint is given below:

• Visit the cyber crime department here.

• Click on the “Register a Complaint” option and choose “Financial Fraud”.

• Click on the “File a complaint” option on the next page again and click the “I Accept" button.

• Click on the “Click here for new users” option to create an account and enter the following details: State, Login ID of your choice, and phone number.

• Choose the “Get OTP” option and enter the OTP received.

• Fill in the Captcha and click “Submit”.

• Login into the account using your phone number, Login ID and OTP

• Fill up the form with the requisite details.

• Click on ‘Preview and Submit’.

• Download the PDF of your complaint.

• Note the Acknowledgement number provided after submission to track the status of the application later.
