Andhra Pradesh Introduces Comprehensive Free Healthcare Scheme For All Families

The Andhra Pradesh government launched a vital improvement of public health by providing free healthcare services to all families inside the state. The government expanded the YSR Aarogyasri Programme to provide wide-ranging medical services for about 4.25 crore citizens as proof of dedicated healthcare accessibility and quality.
Enhanced Coverage And Benefits
Each Andhra Pradesh family now can access medical treatment free of charge up to ₹25 lakh annually through the renovated YSR Aarogyasri programme. The expanded coverage under this scheme includes major medical procedures between heart transplants and cancer treatments and stem cell therapies. The scheme has achieved a significant expansion by adding 2,513 hospitals to its state-wide network which provides medical institutions across the entire region.

Financial Commitment & Infrastructure Development
Public healthcare in Andhra Pradesh received ₹32,279 crore of state government funding throughout 55 months as a means to improve medical services in the region. Through the Nadu-Nedu programme, the government allocates funds to update government hospitals and construct 10,032 YSR village clinics, 560 urban health clinics, 1,147 primary health centres, 52 area hospitals and 191 community health centres whereas this investment also covers staff recruitment of 9,712 medical professionals including doctors and nursing staff. Through its recruitment drive, the state has obtained 9,712 medical professionals including doctors, nurses and support staff to improve care services.
Supplementary Support Through Aarogya Aasara
The patients undergoing recovery can access financial assistance of ₹5,000 per month through the Aarogya Aasara programme which supplements the Aarogyasri scheme. Approximately 25 lakh patients have gained assistance through this initiative as the government spent more than ₹1,300 crore on post-treatment care.
Focus On Preventive Healthcare
Andhra Pradesh has started family doctor services and set up village health clinics for preventive healthcare provision. Medical services through these clinics include distributing 105 types of medicines and performing 14 diagnostic tests which helps residents resolve their health problems on a regional basis. The state actively engages in healthcare improvements as specialist doctor shortages measure at 3.9% when compared to the national shortage of 60%. The staff shortage in nursing services is less severe in Andhra Pradesh despite the country lacking approximately 27% of nursing professionals.

Public Awareness And Accessibility
The government launched the Smart Aarogyasri Card programme to achieve widespread awareness together with accessibility by embedding new features into the cards. On December 19 the government began extensive awareness and distribution efforts which explained the scheme's advantages alongside the modernisation of care delivery systems. The postal department will support a direct supply of free medicine to eligible patients starting from January 1st. Aarogya Suraksha Phase 2 will establish health camps twice a year in each Mandal to deliver regular medical testing together with medical services.
