  • The individual must be a pregnant woman from a low-income group.

2. Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK)

The Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram was initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 2011. The Sarkari scheme ensures that pregnant women attending government health facilities have access to free delivery services, including caesarean sections, along with other ways of aid like free transportation from homes to hospitals, promoting institutional deliveries, etc. Newborn babies who get sick for more than a month are eligible to get healthcare services completely free of cost.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a pregnant woman from a low-income family.

  • Register for the JSSK scheme with the help of the staff at the government health facility.

3. Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA)

One of the govt schemes for pregnant women in India is the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA). It was launched under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in the year 2016. The govt program aims to provide monetary support and other care services to women in their 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy. The primary aim of the Sarkari Yojana is to improve the conditions of antenatal care, which includes both diagnostic and counselling services.

  • Applicant must be a pregnant woman.

4. Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) Yojana

The Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) Yojana is a central government scheme for pregnant women launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The govt scheme aims to provide quality medical care to both new mothers and their children so that the cases of newborn and maternal deaths can be reduced as much as possible.

  • Pregnant women from Below Poverty line (BPL) or Above Poverty line (APL).

  • Infants between the ages of 0-6 months.

  • New mothers can be eligible for the scheme for 6 months after the date of their delivery.

  • Request them for registration for the scheme, submit an identity proof like Aadhaar along with the details of your pregnancy, and successfully apply.

5. Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative (LaQshya)

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched the Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative (LaQshya) in the year 2017 to improve the quality of labour rooms and maternity Operation theatres for the safety of both mothers and their newborn children.

6. PM Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a central government scheme for pregnant women launched in the year 2017. The scheme provides financial support to pregnant and lactating women so that they can lead healthy and fulfilled lives. The Sarkari Yojana aims to assist mothers throughout their pregnancy and after.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The women should be pregnant and at least 19 years old.

  • It must be the first pregnancy of the applicant and registered at the Anganwadi centre or a medical facility.
