The Stipend to Educated Unemployed Persons with Disabilities Scheme is a social welfare scheme initiated by the Government of Mizoram for financial assistance to be given to educated persons with disability who are unable to find any employment despite trying. The Mizoram unemployment allowance scheme acknowledges that there are lots of people who can work but are not able to access appropriate work in certain cases because of disability, lack of employment opportunities or financial reasons.
Beneficiaries will receive a fixed monthly allowance under this scheme, up to ₹650, for their livelihood and to help them seek employment. The scheme is restricted to those who have registered on an Employment Exchange for three years or more without getting jobs.
The financial contribution, which is modest but not insignificant, reflects the Government stipend programme’s commitment to inclusive development and its efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
The main goal of the financial aid for unemployed scheme is to offer temporary help to educated, jobless, disabled individuals and to encourage their participation in the job market. Other objectives include.
To give financial assistance to educated unemployed disabled persons, who have not got proper jobs even after being registered in the Employment Exchange, every month.
To assist disabled persons in the job search process to lessen the negative economic impact on weaker economic families.
To encourage social inclusion and equal opportunity by acknowledging the employment challenges of persons with disabilities in the job market.
To promote the presence and inclination of educated persons with disabilities to be actively registered with Employment Exchanges to avail proper employment opportunities.
To improve the social protection system of the State and provide financial assistance to the deserving beneficiaries of Below Poverty Line (BPL) Families.
To enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities and the economic viability of such persons until they secure gainful employment.
The government scheme funds individuals who qualify for financial assistance and helps them to maintain their exploration of job opportunities. Assistance is low in quantity but is significant as a component to fulfil basic daily needs and to alleviate economic hardship.
Eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly stipend of ₹650 to help meet essential personal and household expenses while they remain unemployed.
The purpose of the financial assistance is to provide temporary economic relief for educated persons with disabilities who are unable to find suitable jobs despite actively seeking them.
The youth welfare scheme also encourages the applicant of BPL families, ensuring that economically weaker families receive support first.
They will not be forced to stop working, and thus job-seeking activity can help them engage in employment opportunities, interviewing, and recruitment.
The scheme promotes financial inclusion by transferring assistance through the beneficiary's bank account, ensuring greater transparency and accountability in fund disbursement.
The programme is aligned with the government's vision of inclusive policies of equal opportunity, dignity and social protection for persons with disabilities in Mizoram.
