The government scheme for disabled students provides financial assistance to its beneficiaries so that they can study comfortably in foreign countries without monetary worries.
The breakdown of the NSP disability scholarship amount that the beneficiaries of this scholarship scheme enjoy is as follows:
Annual Maintenance Allowance: $1500 (for all countries except the UK) and 9900 for students in the UK.
Contingency Allowance: $1500 (for all countries except the UK) and 1100 for students in the UK.
Exact fees of tuition, VISA, Poll tax, and medical insurance premium.
Rs. 1500 is provided in the name of equipment allowance.
Travel allowance is also provided.

Interested individuals are required to fulfil all the eligibility criteria of the scheme to start the Disability scholarship apply 2025 process. The criteria are as follows for one’s better understanding:
Applicant must be a student and admitted into or possess an offer to Master’s level courses or PhD courses from recognised educational institutions by the government.
The disability percentage of the applicant should be at least 40%.
Applicants must be below the age of 35 years to apply for this government scheme.
The family income of the applicant or their family should not be more than Rs. 6 lakh p.a.
Individuals cannot apply for this scheme if they fall into the exclusion criteria. The exclusion criteria are as follows:
Students enrolled in undergraduate courses are not covered under this scheme.
Individuals who are already beneficiaries of any other government scheme and are pursuing an educational course in foreign countries cannot apply for this scheme.
Only 2 kids with disabilities from a family can apply to reap the benefits of this scheme. However, if the second child is a twin, both siblings can apply for this scholarship scheme.
If an individual has already done their Master’s or Ph.D from an educational institute in India or abroad, they cannot apply for this scheme and pursue the courses again.
If a beneficiary of the scheme somehow fails a semester, they will be removed from the scheme and will stop receiving the benefits provided through it.
It is completely prohibited to enjoy stipends from other government schemes, but they can enjoy other facilities like free accommodation or a scholarship for purchasing books through other state government schemes.
The application process for this government scheme is completely offline, and therefore, one needs to submit the form physically to the concerned government office. Please note that there is no disability scholarship online apply 2025 process, only offline. The offline application process is laid out below in a stepwise manner for one’s better understanding:
Step 1: Please visit the official website of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and download the application form for the scheme.
Step 2: Fill the application form accurately and carefully.
Step 3: Attach the scanned copies of all the required documents.
Step 4: Recheck the filled information and submit the form to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Room no. 516, 5th floor, Pt. Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, 110003.
There are some documents that the applicants are required to attach while completing the disability scholarship apply process. The list of those documents is:
PAN card (of the applicant and their parents)
Bank account information
Educational marksheets
Income Tax Return (of the applicant or their parents, or guardians)
Details of the proposed study (in less than 500 words)
Papers of admission from recognised universities/institutions
Self-attested declaration stating that one is not a beneficiary of any other government scheme
