The Pradhan Mantri Free Silai Machine Yojana 2025 is a government program that was designed to enable self-employment and economic independence among women in India. The online application process for the Free Silai Machine Yojana has commenced. Women from all states in India can now apply for free sewing machines, which will enable them to initiate self-employment activities. The last date for application is yet to be announced, however, applicants are advised to file for it at the earliest possibility.
The PM Free Silai Machine Yojana is made to give out free sewing machines to women hailing from economically weaker sections of society. With the provision of sewing machines, women will be able to earn income through tailoring, garment making, and other forms of work from home.
This scheme is targeted mainly toward women who do not work outside their homes because of family obligations or societal restrictions. This scheme gives preference to widows, handicapped women, and women belonging to SC/ST/OBC.
The government has put forward a plan for promoting women’s self-sufficiency. They provide no-cost sewing machines to assist in income generation or expansion. Below are the important traits of the plan:
Free Sewing Machines: Over 50,000 women in each state will get sewing machines for free.
Self-Employment Assistance: Helps women earn through tailoring and other domestic work.
Government Sponsored: The program is entirely sponsored by the federal government.

The Silai Machine Scheme, Free of Charge, was created to assist women in earning an income to cater for their families. It eliminates obstacles to women’s self-employment and its promotion. The scheme has the following advantages:
Women’s Financial Empowerment: Women can perform stitching, garment designing, and tailoring services as a form of self-employment.
Encouraging Home-Based Work: Women too can earn from their homes through tailoring jobs if they are unable to work outside.
No Age or Family Size Restrictions: Eligible women in the age range of twenty to forty years are free to apply, irrespective of family size.
Skill Development: Women acquire new skills in tailoring that increase their chances of getting jobs.
Special Support for Widows and Disabled Women: Free sewing machines are primarily issued to widows and disabled women first.
Reducing Unemployment: The scheme is intended to reduce self-employment and women’s unemployment in India.
Improving Family Income: Additional income from sewing enables families to better afford education, healthcare, and living conditions.
Strengthening Rural Economy: It promotes microenterprises as well as the local textile industry.
Government Support with No Investment Needed: Women receive the machine for no charge, as there are no expenses to bear.
Bridging the Gender Gap: Enabling women to become economically active aids in closing the gap.
The PM Free Silai Machine Scheme is designed to support women from economically weaker sections by providing them with an opportunity to earn a livelihood through tailoring. The scheme encourages entrepreneurship and financial independence, helping women become self-sufficient. To be eligible for this initiative, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Indian citizenship is a must.
Women whose age is within the range of 20 to 40 years are also eligible.
Applicants should be members of poor families.
Preferential treatment will be given to widows or disabled women from SC/ST/OBC communities.
There should be no government employees in the family.
To apply for the Free Silai Machine Scheme, applicants must submit specific documents to verify their identity, residence, income level, and eligibility for the program. The application process for the Free Silai Machine Yojana under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme involves multiple stages of registration and verification. Here's a step-by-step guide for artisans, Gram Panchayats/ULBs, District Authorities, and DFOs to ensure smooth application and approval.
To apply for the Free Silai Machine Yojana under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, eligible artisans need to follow the below step-by-step process, which includes self-registration first. Then the applicant is verified through the Common Service Centre (CSC).
Step 1: Go to the official website of PM Vishwakarma and click on the login drop-down menu.
Step 2: From the available login options, select "CSC - View E-Shram Data" to view the list of workers registered in the E-Shram portal, who are eligible for PM Vishwakarma.
Step 3: Log in with your CSC username and password.
Step 4: After logging in, the CSC users can view the potential E-Shram registered applicants in detail. They can reach out to these applicants, and help them register under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
Step 5: To register artisans, select the "CSC - Register Artisans" from the login drop-down menu.
Step 6: Log in again with your CSC username and password.
Step 7: After logging in, select ‘No’ for the questions on whether any family member of the artisan is a government employee and whether they have already obtained a loan under any similar central or state self-employment scheme like PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or Mudra. Then click on the ‘Continue’ button.
Step 8: Enter the Aadhaar-linked mobile number of the artisan and the Aadhaar number of the artisan. Click the OTP button, and verify the OTP sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile. Proceed with the biometric authentication process by clicking the biometric button.
Step 9: Once you fill out the registration form, the other details will come from Aadhaar automatically. You will have to select marital status and caste category (General/SC/ST/OBC), whether the artisan is a divyangjan, whether the artisan is working in the same state as the application, and to choose whether the artisan has any minority category.
Step 10: In the contact details section, your mobile number and Aadhaar number will come from Aadhaar too, and you will have to enter the PAN card number if the artisan has one.
Step 11: In the Family Details section, family details will be filled automatically if there is a ration card linked to the Aadhaar number. If not, you will be able to enter the ration card number, or enter the family details manually.
Step 12: In the Aadhaar address section, your address, 'State', 'District', and 'Pin Code' will already be auto-filled from the Aadhaar number. If the current address is the same as the Aadhaar address, press "Same as Aadhaar address". After that, you will have to select whether the artisan lives in a gram panchayat or not. If yes, you will have to select the block and the gram panchayat.
If the artisan lives in an urban area, select 'No' and choose the ULB name accordingly.
Step 13: If the current address is different from the Aadhaar one, then select the "Other" option and write the current address. Also, select if the artisan is under the gram panchayat or not.
Step 14: In the profession/trade field, select the artisan's profession or trade. Confirm that the trade is a family trade and learned through the guru-shishya tradition. Then select business address - whether it's Aadhaar or current address, or if entering a different address manually.
Step 15: In the savings bank field, select the artisan bank name, enter the IFSC code, branch name, account number and confirm it by re-entering the same account number.
Step 16: In the credit support field, select whether the artisan wants credit support now or later. If yes, enter loan amount (limited to Rs. 1,00,000). Select whether they want to take the loan from the same bank account or a different bank/branch.
Select the purpose of the loan, add any existing loans if applicable, and write in the total monthly family income.
Step 17: In the digital incentive field, mention whether the artisan has a UPI ID or not. If yes, enter UPI ID and mobile number linked to the UPI account.
Step 18: Read and understand the skill training and toolkit section, which outlines the benefits available under the scheme.
Step 19: In the marketing support section, select the relevant marketing support components available under the scheme.
Step 20: Read the declaration and terms and conditions, then accept.
Step 21: When all information has been filled out, click the submit button, and you will receive a registration number.
Once the artisan has submitted their application, it is sent to the respective Gram Panchayat (GP) or Urban Local Body (ULB) to carry out the physical and document verification. Here is the procedure to validate and recommend the application through the Gram Pradhan or the verifying officer:
Step 1: Go to the official website: PM Vishwakarma
Step 2: Click on the "Login" dropdown at the top right of the home page.
Step 3: Under the option "Verification Login," click on "Gram Pradhan Login."
Step 4: On the Log In page, select Gram Panchayat as the user role, fill in the username and password for the Gram Pradhan.
Step 5: Enter the OTP (one time password) sent to the mobile number linked to the Gram Pradhan's Aadhaar and click on "Submit."
Step 6: Once logged in, click on "Applicant Details" to see the list of enrolled artisans.
Step 7: Locate the applications with the Review Pending status, and click the gear icon next to their name.
Step 8: Select "Review Applicant Details" from the dropdown menu.
Step 9: You will now see the full application with Form-A, which includes the artisan's personal, contact, family, address, and trade/profession details.
Step 10: If everything is fine and verified, the Gram Pradhan should select "Recommend" from the Review Status dropdown, which will send the application to the next step.
Step 11: Step 10: Select “Date of Verification” and click on the “Save” button to recommend the Artisans from the Stage-1 Verification Stage.
Step 12: To Not Recommend Application Gram Pradhan’s need to Select “Not Recommend” from Review Status drop down.
Step 13: Select “Rejection Reason” and click on the “Save” button to Not Recommend the Artisans.
Step 1: Go to the official website: PM Vishwakarma
Step 2: From the Login dropdown menu, select the “ULB Login” under the Verification Login option.
Step 3: Select User role as ULB Login, and ULB User has to enter their “Swachh Bharat Mission” UserName and Password, and click on the “Submit” button
Step 4: Click on “Applicant Details” to see enrolled Artisans
Step 5: Click on the Gear Icon to Applications which have a Review Pending Status.
Step 6: Select “Review Applicant Details” from the drop-down.
Step 7: ULB can see complete details including artisans, Personal Details, Contact Details, Family Details, Address details and Profession/ Trade Details.
Step 8: To recommend applications, ULBs need to select “Recommend” from the Review Status drop-down.
Step 9: Select “Date of Verification” and click on the “Save” button to recommend the Artisans from the Stage-1 Verification Stage.
Once the application is verified and recommended by the Gram Panchayat or ULB, it moves to the District Magistrate (DM) or District Commissioner (DC) for final vetting. Here's how the DM/DC reviews it:
Step 1: Open the official website: PM Vishwakarma
Step 2: Click the "Login" drop-down on the homepage in the header section.
Step 3: Under theLog in as the "Verification Login" section, the user should select DM/DC login.
Step 4: The next step is for the user to select the user role DM on the user role dropdown, along with their DM/ DC Username and Password.
Step 5: Once you are logged in, the user may click on "Applicant Details" and view those, artisans already recommended by the Gram Panchyat, or ULB.
Step 6: Once you are in Applications with "DM Review Pending" status, click on th to identify the options.
Step 7: From here, thwomen'sr must select Review Applicant Details from the dropdown.
Step 8: The DM/DC will view the complete application which includes the personal details, contact details, family details, the address of the artisan and the trade and/or profession.
Step 9: If the DM/DC believes that the application is legitimate, then he/she must select Recommend from the Review Status dropdown.
Step 10: Select the Date of verification and click the Save button to complete the application on Stage 2.
Step 11: When the DM/DC decides not to recommend an application, they must select Not Recommend from the Review Status dropdown.
Step 12: Select and enter the reason for rejection and click on the Save button to confirm the decision.
Step 1: Go to the official link of PM Vishwakarma
Step 2: At the top right corner, click on the “Login” dropdown.
Step 3: Under the “Verification Login” tab, click on “MSME DFO LOGIN.”
Step 4: Select user role as DFO and enter the User name and Password.
Step 5: Click on “Applicant Details” to view a list of artisan applications.
Step 6: The filter “Assigned to Me” will be defaulted to Yes, so all you will see are applications that have passed Stage 1 and Stage 2 with verified bank accounts, which are now at the DFO level for approval.
Step 7: Click on the gear icon next to your application and select “Review Applicant Details.”
Step 8: The DFO can now review all artisan details, including personal information, and information for contact, family, residential, and profession or trade.
Step 9: If everything looks good, from your Review Status dropdown, you can select “Recommend.”
Step 10: Next, select “Date of Verification” and click on “Save” to send your application to Stage 3.
Step 11: If DFO does not want to recommend for approval, they would select “Not Recommend” from the Review Status.
Step 12: They should select the “Rejection Reason” and click on “Save” to submit rejection.
Step 13: Click on “Apply Filter”. You can search using the Application number, Artisan name, Mobile Number, or apply filters for District, Block, Gram Panchayat, or ULB Name as necessary.
The user can filter only Recommended/ Not recommended by DFOs Applications by selecting “Assigned to Me - NO” and Review Status as “Recommended/Not Recommended”.
The government will provide a list of beneficiaries after processing the applications. You may view your name in the list by going to pmvishwakarma.gov.in and using your application ID.
The government can provide foundational training in sewing and the use of sewing machines. This could assist the beneficiaries in acquiring vocational skills, which would subsequently enhance their income potential.
The PM Free Silai Machine Yojana 2025 is a government scheme for machine distribution to cut across women's empowerment through self-employment. Giving free sewing machines enables women to achieve financial independence, work from home and foster economic development.
