The Union Cabinet approved an extensive ₹8,800 crore funding for the Skill India Programme to run until the 2025-26 fiscal year. The nationwide programme aims to provide training that relates to industrial needs. The Cabinet approved the development of the South Coast Railway zone as mentioned in the Andhra Reorganisation Act.

Revamped Skill India Programme: Key Components
Three main schemes form the basis of the upgraded Skill India Programme which focuses on distinct aspects of skill development.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana:
The 4.0 version of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0) receives ₹6,000 crore in funding to deliver technology-based traineeship that matches market needs for essential professional competencies.
Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme:
Under PM-NAPS the government increased its budget funding to ₹1,942 crore while extending programme support to service industry operation alongside traditional manufacturing. The scheme facilitates new initiatives to train apprentices in essential areas like artificial intelligence robotics blockchain technology green energy and Industry 4.0 technology. Under this programme, financial rewards are provided to businesses which train apprentice workers from 14 to 35 years old so they can make a smooth transition from study to work through practical on-the-job learning.
Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Scheme:
The JSS scheme managed to acquire ₹858 crore to extend high-quality vocational education through community-based learning programmes addressing both urban and rural populations including marginalised communities.

Government's Commitment To A Future-Ready Workforce
A government statement demonstrated public commitment to creating workforce readiness through education programmes that use Industry demand criteria technological resources and specific sector training standards nationwide. Establishment Of A New Railway Zone

The Cabinet approved an extended term of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) for three years following March 31, 2025, while allocating ₹51crorese for its operations. The economic progress of sanitation workers is the main goal of this extension project.
