The Award of Adhoc Merit Grant is the merit incentive scheme for the improvement of the performance of Scheduled Caste students in the class 10 Board examination. The SC education assistance scheme is designed to identify academic excellence and support worthy students at a critical juncture in their academic studies.
The main purpose of the scheme is to ensure that meritorious students do not lose admission to Higher secondary courses, Diploma courses, vocational courses, or other recognised educational institutions due to a lack of funds. The Government of Puducherry has been promoting the enrollment and keeping SC children in school and has also been trying to minimise their dropouts after class 12 in exchange for better academic results.
This initiative provides financial assistance for the Scheduled Caste Merit Scholarship to meritorious students from the Scheduled Caste Class. Under the scheme, there are the following benefits:
The Government of Puducherry offers a cash incentive of ₹1000 to all eligible SC students securing 65% marks or above in the Class 10th Board Examination.
This financial support is taken to pay for the admission process-related expenses, like enrollment fee, studying material, uniforms, books, etc. and all educational needs during the initial admission.
The merit grant for SC students is awarded as an outstanding achievement and also as an encouragement to pupils to attempt to further excel in future studies.
Students will be able to utilise the incentive amount for their various educational needs during higher secondary or post-metric level education.
The benefit is offered without any regard for the income of the student's mum or dad, making advancement for more extensive advantage deserving of competitors.
