Healthcare costs can end up putting a heavy load on families, most especially when a person is facing serious illness or even just an emergency medical situation. To support such people, the Government of Rajasthan introduced the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) Medical Assistance Scheme. This scheme was started under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in April 1999.
The idea of this scheme is to cover economically weaker families, particularly those who belong to below the poverty line, who are not covered under certain government health insurance programmes. Besides the medical assistance part, the same relief fund also gives support to families dealing with natural disasters, accidents, fires, floods, excess rainfall and various other unforeseen troubles that people can't really plan for.
With the help offered through the CM Relief Fund Rajasthan medical help scheme, the eligible beneficiaries receive monetary assistance toward treatments for serious disorders, for example, cancer, kidney ailments, heart problems, thalassemia and hearing disabilities that require cochlear implant surgery.
In this article, you will get the detailed information about the government scheme, its objectives, benefits, eligibility, application process and much more.

This Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Medical Assistance Scheme, also known as Mukhyamantri Rahat Kosh Rajasthan, is basically a welfare effort meant to help people who need costly medical care. It looks out for patients who cannot afford treatment costs for serious, life-threatening illnesses. Not only that, but the relief fund also extends support to families hit by calamities like floods, droughts, very heavy rainfall, fires, and even accidental deaths.
The underlying purpose is to ensure that financial constraints do not stop deserving people from getting the right medical support at the right time. The money is provided through a clear payment mechanism, meaning it is transferred directly to the concerned hospital or sometimes to the beneficiary, so the funds can be used in time for the treatment, without delays.
Under this Rajasthan health treatment assistance scheme, assistance is not just one fixed thing. The support varies based on the medical condition and the kind of treatment the applicant requires. These financial aids help reduce the overall burden on families dealing with sudden medical crises.
Patients with serious illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, urinary problems, and heart disease receive monetary aid for their treatment, as they may have to undergo expensive medical procedures and may be admitted to a hospital to pick up the bills.
In the scheme, beneficiaries can get assistance up to 40% of the approved treatment cost, but there is a cap, maximum ₹1.50 lakh. Whichever is lower, basically. In many situations, the approved amount is sent directly to the concerned hospital itself, and not to the patient.
When a patient gets treated in an approved private hospital, then the monetary assistance is granted up to 30% of the total treatment cost, with a maximum limit of ₹90,000. Hence, making it easier for eligible beneficiaries to access specialised health services when the situation calls for it.
Financial support is also offered for cochlear implant surgery for deaf-mute children, usually when they are up to 6 years of age. The purpose of Rajasthan’s Medical assistance grant is to improve hearing capability and support the overall day-to-day quality of life for children who qualify.
Patients suffering from Thalassemia Major can apply for financial aid through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, in line with government norms. This support is meant to help with recurring treatment costs as well as blood transfer expenses.
Applicants have to meet the Rajasthan Rahat Kosh eligibility conditions fixed by the Government of Rajasthan before they apply under the scheme.
The applicant should ordinarily be a resident of Rajasthan and should seek treatment in recognised healthcare institutions approved under the scheme.
The annual income of the applicant should generally be above the BPL category threshold, but within the eligibility parameters prescribed by the state government.
The applicant should require treatment for a serious medical condition, meaning assistance is usually for patients suffering from serious illnesses that need costly care or a longer period of medical attention.
The applicant should not be covered under certain government health insurance schemes: if someone is already getting full treatment benefits under the specified insurance programme or programmes, they may not qualify for help here.

Before applying for help under the Mukhyamantri Rahat Kosh Rajasthan, applicants should take note of a few key points, so approval chances stay high, and the processing doesn’t drag on.
Make sure that all medical documents are recent, filled out, and issued by authorised medical practitioners. If the documents feel old or partial, it can slow things down.
The treatment estimates should be taken from recognised hospitals, to prevent issues during verification, and such discrepancies.
Do not provide wrong details or submit forged documents. If this happens, the application can be rejected without much flexibility.
Financial help for medical treatment in Rajasthan is only given after approval from the competent authority and only when funds are available.
The final amount sanctioned can change, based on how severe the illness is, the treatment cost involved, and the applicant’s personal situation.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Medical Assistance Scheme is a crucial backup system for patients who are struggling with big financial problems because of serious diseases and urgent medical situations. Through the scheme, assistance is provided for things like cancer care, managing kidney disease, heart surgeries, cochlear implant procedures and thalassemia treatment, so families can reach decent healthcare without getting crushed by excessive financial stress.
If you or someone from your family actually needs costly medical treatment and you do match the eligibility criteria, it’s better to submit the application as early as possible and use the financial help given by the Government of Rajasthan. Also, doing the paperwork properly and applying on time can help in getting approval faster, and then reaching that needed medical support before it becomes harder.
