The key objective of this scheme is the promotion of institutional deliveries, improved maternal health and a decrease in infant mortality rates. It further guarantees good hygienic and care practices during the vital period after birth by offering basic medical and personal care items for new mothers.

This Government Scheme for Pregnant Women is mainly associated with the Karnataka Health Department and represents safe motherhood and child welfare, while the Madilu Programme concentrates on skill development and entrepreneurship and extends support to the livelihood of the rural people.
