The second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana—Urban was launched to provide Rs. 1 crore to people from low-income groups and middle-income groups who reside in the urban parts of India so that they can begin the construction process of their houses. Some of the key details of the housing scheme are:

• Subsidy: The govt scheme would provide a subsidy of Rs. 2.5 lakh to one lakh beneficiaries of the scheme in the next five years.

• Pucca houses: PMAY-U 2.0 helps people in the construction of Pucca houses only.

• Verticals: The Sarkari Yojana has four major verticals that help streamline its work. Those 4 verticals are:

1. Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC)
2. Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)
3. Affordable Rental Housing (ARH)
4. Interest Subsidy Scheme

Eligibility Of PMAY-U 2.0

Interested individuals first need to ensure whether they fit into the eligibility criteria or not. The eligibility criteria are laid down below covering all the points:

• People must be from low-income groups with no pucca houses.

• The annual income of people from low-income groups should range from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh.

• The annual income of people from middle-income groups should range from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh.

Online Application Process Of PMAY-U 2.0

Interested and eligible individuals can apply for the govt scheme without going to any govt office as the application process is online. The application process is mentioned below in the step-wise format:

Step 1: Please visit the official website of PMAY-U.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Apply for PMAY 2.0’ option.

Step 3: Fill in your details like name, annual income, etc.

Step 4: Upload the necessary supporting documents like an Aadhaar card, Income certificate, etc.

Step 5: Apply and wait for approval.
